Be Grounded

Old tree

Whilst August was about being light (I will put a post out there about that theme), September is to be grounded.

The change in the weather, kids going back to school, life at the start of September, in the UK anyway, always seems a little flustered and it helps to keep both feet firmly on the ground.

Get out of your head and be grounded

Society is so visually stimulated these days.  We’re constantly bombarded with colourful ads on television, on billboards, etc.  Computers, tablets, smart phones … it can be relentless.  What it does mean is that we end up living in our heads rather than our bodies.

Tied in with this is the need to “be enlightened”; people striving for that “something else” that sucks them upwards rather than down.

I’ll be the first to admit that I do live in my head … a  lot.

As a result, I’m less in tune with my intuition and that can lead to poor decision making.

I truly believe that as a society, we need to get out of our heads and drop back into our bodies, to feel the connection with our breath, to truly appreciate mother earth and to be grounded.

What you can do to be grounded

  • Take the time to feel the ground, whether you’re sitting, standing or lying down.
  • Breathe, in particular, focus on the controlled exhalation and taking a moment to appreciate the pause following the exhalation in order to feel connected with your body and the ground.
  • Rather than stimulate our higher chakras even more, try this when you sit and meditate

  • On that note, …. meditate
  • Do a yoga practice that focuses on the pelvis, creating gentle movement through the area
  • Deep squats are grounding
  • Take time out
  • Go for a walk outdoors … walk barefeet if you can

Life moves at a tremendous pace as it is and it’s so easy to get caught up with the rush.

You deserve to enjoy life fully.

Take time to be grounded to truly FEEL what life has to offer.
