HEARTFELT .. strongly felt and sincere.
Heartfelt is not a word often found in my day to day vocabulary. However, just because I hardly use it, does not mean that I do not feel it. And when I do use it, I mean it.
These days of social media, I find heartfelt communication is becoming even more rare, and a simple heartfelt life means removing the things that keep you in unconscious chaos and creating a life and home you really love. It means connecting more deeply with the people around you and respecting the money you have worked hard to earn. It means listening within, slowing down, and making conscious choices with the guidance of your heart.
And as time passes by this year, it has led me to reflect more about what matters to me and to live my truth.
Life is too short and as I write this, we are already in October, with less than 90 days left of this year; a year that I am sure promised lots at the start, and I truly believe it still does. 2020 has given us space; space to breathe, to think, to feel, to appreciate, to be grateful, to heal, and those are remarkable gifts to receive.
So, how can we continue to be heartfelt?
- Connect with your heart regularly. This connection will help you feel grounded, empowered and full of love for yourself and the world around you. It will help you accept what you cannot change, let go of what no longer serves and playing with daily practices that bring joy and fill your heart.
- Acknowledge and honour your past. The things that have happened in the past can make or break us if we let them. By acknowledging your history, you are healing your history, and you can then recognise and celebrate your strengths, and embrace the feeling of freedom that comes.
- Surround yourself with wonderful people who will enhance your life. Feeling connected to others is a basic human need. Create quality connections that include mutual caring and support of everyone involved. Learn to honour your relationships and learn better ways of being in them.
- Your body is your temple; nurture it well. We really only have one physical home for our spirit in this life, and taking care of it becomes even more important as we get older. Nurture your body with good wholesome food, restful sleep, relaxation and movement that promotes health weight, strength and flexibility.
- Nurture your mind. Focus on positive uplifting input, so be mindful about what you watch, read and who you surround yourself with. Nurturing your mind also includes keeping your brain healthy with nutrition, life long learning, and a variety of activities that will keep it working well for your lifetime.
“The most fundamental aggression to ourselves, the most fundamental harm we can do to ourselves, is to remain ignorant by not having the courage and the respect to look at ourselves honestly and gently”
Pema Chodron
Look at your life with your heart, and ask what makes you unique, and honour that.
We often look at others and value them more highly than ourselves. We put others’ needs first and neglect our relationship with our self. We feed others’ souls but are our own harshest critic.
Take time this month to live a more heartfelt life.
Till next time … be safe, be well and be blessed.
