Replenish

Woman lying on a bed

Some days I just need to take a step back and take some time for me, Be me, Love me, Pamper me, Nurture me, and Recharge my Soul.

Karen Kostyla

How are you?

Are you tired?

Are you ready to wind this year up and see in the new year?

So many people I have spoken with over the past couple of weeks seem to be feeling this way, and I will admit that I am too. It has been a long and challenging year, with many ups and downs. Despite the lows, I can honestly say that the challenges of this year has forced me to be honest with myself, think outside the box and be creative.

What is has also highlighted is the need for self-care. Looking after ourselves should be our number one priority, and yet, we seldom do until we are faced with something life-changing; and we really should not wait for the end of each year to replenish. We tend to forget that in order to be the best version of ourselves and to give back to others, we have to nourish and care for ourselves first. It is not about whether we are being selfish or not. It is about ensuring that our own cup has been filled before we start pouring into others.

Here are some tips that I do to replenish me:

  • No is a complete sentence. If something does not feel good to you, say no without feeling guilty and without having to give an elaborate reason.
  • Be kind to yourself. Speak to yourself like you would your best friend and give yourself the same encouragement and love to recharge and replenish your soul.
  • Stay away from the drama. Avoid getting caught up in what other people are doing or saying and instead turn your attention onto yourself.
  • If you wake up every day dreading your job, wishing things were different or always waiting for “tomorrow”, it may be time to make some changes. This world is filled with endless opportunities, so give yourself permission to create the life that you desire and know that you are worthy of having it.
  • Let go of what you cannot control and accept things as the way they are. Rather than cling on so tightly, letting to gives us space and room for new possibilities to emerge.

Self care is really something we should all be prioritising every single day. So, I encourage you to make time each day through the rest of this year to take the time and replenish.

Till the next time …

Be safe, be blessed and be well.
