“For after all, the best thing one can do when it is raining is let it rain.” Henry W. Longfellow
So, the world as we know it has changed for many of us around the world. We are going through a period of transformation; for the better, I believe. We have been forced to let go of certain things, embrace uncertainty, adapt to using technology and learn to connect with people in different ways.
The way I see it, is we are in a chrysalis phase, cocoon period, where we are changing, we are transforming; not just as individuals, but humanity. Mother Earth is given space to breathe and to heal. Despite feeling constricted, we also feel tension and pressure, not dissimilar to that of a pressure cooker. You may not have ever spent such long periods of time with the people you live with. You want to break free, to escape but it just is not possible right now. The chrysalis phase is one of duality; of the need to grow and expand, yet being constricted and feeling restricted.
What you must realise is that this period of pressure is needed. No change comes from ease. There is always pressure, just like diamonds are forged from heat and pressure. The Yoga Sutra talks about heat; heat that is generated from transmutation.
So, we don’t need to break through right now; you just need to appreciate life in the current time. It’s a beautiful way of being. Be thankful for what is; and also be thankful for what has not yet come to you, for that means there are still many possibilities available to you.
Find peace in the thought that you are evolving.
Allow yourself to experience the joy of growth.
Life is changing.
Realise this and embrace it.
Be excited and thankful at the same time, and be okay with it.
Grow your resilience muscle.
- Reframe your thoughts. Any given situation can be interpreted differently. Look at a negative situation in a way that does not centre on blame. Look for small ways that you can tackle the problem and make changes that will help.
- Have people you can trust and confide in. Talking about what you are experiencing or feeling does not change the situation, but it can make you feel like you have someone in your corner.
- Focus only on the things that are in your control. Even when the situation seems dire, take realistic steps to help improve the situation. Regardless of how small these steps may be, can improve your sense of control.
